Ao Ming, the second-level arts and crafts master of Beijing
Ao Ming was born in September of 1956. After graduated from Beijing Arts and Crafts Technical School, he entered Beijing Gold Lacquer Inlaid Factory to work, and took arts and crafts master Liu Xiheng as his teacher. Liu Xiheng was the fourth inheritor of Su Mingtang, who was the leader of palace lacquer painting master of Qing Dynasty, as well as founder of Yingming Zhai. Thus Ao Ming became the fifth inheritor of Su Mingtang.
From 1986 to 1988, Ao Ming went to College of Fine Arts of Beijing University of Technology to study lacquer painting, after further study here, he went back to the factory to work on designing and producing of lacquer arts. In this process, he mastered so many creating techniques, such as golden edge and colored paingting.
In 1993, Ao Ming was identified as arts and crafts master of Beijing by Beijing Intermediate Professional Title Evaluation Committee. In 1997, through recommending by Beijing Arts and Crafts Industry Association, judging by Beijing Traditional Arts and Crafts Evaluation Committee, identifying by Beijing Municipal Bureau of Industry, Ao Ming was awarded as the third-level arts and crafts master of Beijing. In 2008, he participated in National vocational skills training examination and got the senior colored drawing and carved filling technician certificate.
The gem embedded screen Birds and Blooms he designed and produced in 1993 and large carved grey decoration Riverside Scene at Qingming Festival he produced in 1996 got Beijing arts and crafts excellent award. In 2005, gold-in-black crack screen Autumn Landscape along River he designed and produced got the bronze award of Arts and Crafts Cup in Beijing Arts and Crafts Exhibition. The carved grey wall decoration Dunhuang produced in 2008 got silver award of Lacquer Flower Cup in Chinese Lacquer Ware Arts Exhibition. In the later year, the table screen Chant designed by Ao Ming was chose in the fourth Arts and Crafts Exhibition of Beijing.
